Back in the Saddle

It's official folks ... Apex Indoor Cycling studio is open for business in Kingston and I'm back in the saddle on the lead bike every Tuesday/Thursday at 5:30pm!

After many doubts in myself and fears of absolutely bombing my first class, I am happy to say I stuck with it and followed the mantra of "do one thing a day that scares you" ... I simply hate talking in front of people so being a spin instructor poses a bit of a problem in that regard.  I let my love of spin and my drive to be a part of something AH-mazing take over, and I'm so glad I did!

I can't wait for more Kingstonians to hop on one of the spin bikes at Apex and lose themselves in the ride. A dimly lit room offers a non-judgemental environment for each and everyone of us to let go and follow the beat for a fun 45 minute class, all instructors are friendly and will help beginner spinners with proper bike set up so to ensure a safe and effective ride .... And relaxing in the lounge with a coffee ☕️☕️☕️ afterwards was pretty sweet I might add! 

I have confirmed that stepping out of your comfort zone is where the magic happens ... A really great life lesson!

SPiNTASTiC

Well I'm taking the plunge and teaching Spin once again.  Kingston, Ontario is fortunate to have a top notch indoor cycling studio opening in July 2014 and I am one of the lucky instructors joining their team!

I've struggled with the decision to take the plunge and have battled the typical fears of is this a good time, do I have enough time, will I suck at it  ... But if I'm honest with myself, this opportunity is at exactly the right time and likely won't come back around. Carpe Diem and all the jazz right?!?

APEX Indoor Cycling is a slick and classy facility dedicated to just us spin enthusiasts! I am super excited for Jeff and Pauline Farmer as they take off on this adventure!  Kingstonians will certainly reap the benefits from their vision and innovation.

Hoppy Easter

Another Easter season brings with it the challenge of how to up our game from last year's spring time fun.  

Ever since my son was old enough to remember, our egg hunts have been interactive involving clues and riddles. 

When Steve and I got married in 2012 he was happy to join in the fun and for our first Easter together we videotaped Mission Impossible type messages with challenges for the boys ... "Should they choose to accept it".  It was great fun but by February/March of last year they were already asking us what the new theme was so the challenge was on. 

Last year we piggybacked off of the Amazing Race idea and planned challenges and clues that took us to various locations. Needless to say it was great fun ~ but perhaps a little too great. Seriously, how do you top that?

While brain storming (ok, ok ... While on Pinterest) I saw a bunch of Minute to Win It party games and I knew we had a winner!  We picked six different games and the boys were great sports through it all!  Check it out ....

Go WINGS Go

@ZacMc7 and I zipped down to Toronto on Saturday to see the Leafs take on my Detroit Red Wings and it was AWESOME!!!

I managed to convert the boy to a Wings fan ... At least for the day, if not for good! We weren't the only puck fans sporting the ol' Red & White so there was definite strength in numbers! Nothing quite like an old time Original 6 rivalry to get the crowd going. 

I risked getting rolled to pose for a quick anti-Leaf pic in front of the ACC ~ Zac wasn't keen on being associated to me but I reminded him that we didn't know anyone!

We spent the warm up behind the Wings net and loved every second of it ....

I have to say the Leaf fans were rockin the ACC ... But man do they turn on their team when the scoreboard is not in their favour! Leaf fans love hard & hate hard!!!

All in all it was a great mother/son weekend for the memory books :)
